Our history

iTouch 360 began in Midrand in 2012 with a simple aim: help South African retailers give shoppers a better way to see, touch and understand products in store. From a small base serving a few Gauteng stores, the business has grown into a national supplier with installation, support and servicing across major centres.

Our history

2012: A Midrand start with a retail focus

iTouch 360 was founded in 2012 in Midrand, Gauteng, with a clear focus on the retail floor. The first projects centred on interactive touchscreen kiosks and 360-degree product display stands that could handle daily use in busy stores, shopping centres and showroom spaces. In those early months, the team spent much of its time on site, learning how South African retailers work with foot traffic, shrinkage, loading bay schedules and the realities of load-shedding.

From the start, the approach was practical. Every solution had to be easy for staff to use, simple for customers to understand, and strong enough for long trading hours. That mindset shaped the business from day one and still influences every site assessment and installation today.

2013 to 2015: Building trust store by store

Between 2013 and 2015, the business built its name one rollout at a time. Retailers began asking for more than equipment alone. They wanted content loading, network integration, custom branding and a supplier who could stay involved after installation. iTouch 360 responded by shaping its service around the full store cycle, from planning to aftercare.

During this period, the team refined how kiosks and display stands were installed in malls, standalone stores and high-traffic retail spaces. Attention to cable routing, screen placement, airflow and power backup became a standard part of the work. In coastal areas, humidity and corrosion risk also had to be considered, especially for stores in Durban and Cape Town.

By the end of this period, the business had a clearer operating model. It was no longer only supplying products. It was helping retailers use in-store technology to improve product visibility and customer interaction.

2016 to 2018: Expanding beyond Gauteng

As demand increased, iTouch 360 moved beyond the Midrand base and into wider national supply. Johannesburg and Pretoria remained core markets, but retailers in Centurion, Sandton, Cape Town, Durban and Bloemfontein also began to use the company for new fit-outs and upgrades. This meant tighter scheduling, stronger coordination and a more structured rollout process.

These years were important because they pushed the business to formalise how projects were handled. The team had to manage delivery windows, site access, load-shedding interruptions and municipal or mall requirements that can slow down a rollout if they are not handled early. On larger installs, the company also took on more software configuration and network integration work so that the kiosks would fit into the client’s store systems.

It was also a period when the service offering widened. Staff training became a bigger part of each handover, making sure retail teams could use the systems confidently from the first day of trade.

2019 to 2020: Stronger systems, tighter support

By 2019, the business had moved into a steadier operating rhythm with a growing client base and more repeat work. Retailers were looking for consistency: reliable installations, quicker fault response and equipment that could be maintained without long downtime. iTouch 360 strengthened its technical process so that support calls, repairs and replacement parts could be managed with less delay.

The national trading environment also changed how stores planned their customer experience. More clients wanted interactive points that could inform shoppers without needing a sales assistant at every step. That made the role of touchscreen kiosks even more useful for product comparison, promotions and in-store guidance.

When disruption came in 2020, the business stayed focused on practical support. Retail clients needed equipment kept working, clear communication and solutions that could be maintained with limited site access. The company’s service model, built around planning and follow-through, proved valuable during that period.

2021 to 2023: Midrand base, national reach

From 2021 onward, iTouch 360 continued to grow from its Midrand base while serving retailers across the country. The business worked on more tailored display solutions, with custom branding and content loading becoming standard requirements rather than add-ons. That shift reflected how retailers were using in-store technology to guide customer decisions and present products in a clearer way.

The team also became more specialised. Lerato Khumalo managed operations, Johan van Wyk oversaw technical direction, Anele Dlamini supported retail solution planning, Megan Naidoo coordinated projects, Thabo Molefe handled installation supervision and Zanele Mokoena led client support. Under Sibusiso Mthembu’s direction as Managing Director, the business kept its focus on practical delivery rather than unnecessary complexity.

At this stage, the company’s branch and support structure gave clients a clearer route for service, whether they were based in Midrand, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Centurion, Sandton, Cape Town, Durban or Bloemfontein. That local presence mattered when timelines were tight and store opening dates could not move.

2024 to today: A practical partner for retail engagement

Today, iTouch 360 continues to supply interactive touchscreen kiosks and 360-degree product display stands to retailers across South Africa. The company’s history is still shaped by the same things that mattered in 2012: reliable equipment, well-planned installations and support that does not disappear after the handover. The difference is scale. What began in a single Midrand base now reaches a wider market with more structured servicing and ongoing technical support.

The business now offers site assessments, solution design, custom branding, content loading, delivery installation, software configuration, network integration, preventative servicing, fault repairs, parts replacement, staff training and support retainers. That full-service approach has developed over time because retailers have made it clear what they need: systems that work, teams that arrive on time, and clear communication when things need attention.

Looking back, the story is one of steady growth rather than sudden change. iTouch 360 has grown by keeping its work grounded in real retail conditions, from busy Johannesburg malls to coastal stores in humid conditions and regional branches where support has to be organised carefully. It is a history built on showing up, solving problems and helping retailers create a more engaging in-store experience.
